Yoghurt & Yoga is coming to Coral Gables, and the name is doing all the work a name can do. What Now Miami reports the concept brings wellness and froyo together, with YoYo designed as more than a café — the yogurt counter is one piece of a bigger idea rather than the whole business. On paper it reads as an odd pairing. In practice, a city that treats the Saturday workout and the Saturday indulgence as the same errand may be exactly where it belongs. The open question is which half brings in the other.
There are flowers inside Merrick Park now
Bouquet, an interactive floral art installation, is open at the Shops at Merrick Park. The city announced it inside a bulletin otherwise devoted to business licensing, which is a very Coral Gables way to mention public art. The operative word is interactive — the city's own framing implies something you engage with rather than walk past between stores. If your Merrick Park habit is a garage-to-one-store sprint, this is the rare reason to take the long way around.
One login, one bill for Gables business licenses
If you run a business here, the two annual rituals just merged. The city has launched a portal that combines the Business Tax Receipt and the Certificate of Use into a single account with one renewal date and one invoice, plus online applications, renewals, payments, and business records in one place. The city is asking every owner to register as soon as possible so the transition does not turn into a scramble later; you start by choosing Apply, then Business Licenses. The making of Jaws, onstage at Actors' Playhouse
Actors' Playhouse has brought The Shark Is Broken to the stage, a behind-the-scenes comedy built around the troubled production of Jaws. Coral Gables Magazine's review lands on the positive side: strong performances, sharp dialogue, and technical design convincing enough to sell the premise. The knock is that the conflicts start to repeat themselves, which is an occupational hazard of any play set behind the scenes of a single shoot. For a summer night out that stays inside the city limits, the review says it holds up.
Know whose lot you are standing in
The city is reminding drivers that not every garage and lot here is municipal, and the difference costs money. City garages run $1 for every 24 minutes or part thereof, capped at $18 a day; on-street meters go up to $3.50 an hour and are enforced daily from 9 a.m. to midnight; city lots run up to $4 an hour. Private facilities set their own rates and their own rules, and city exemptions may not apply — including for disabled parking permits, which private operators can still charge. In a city garage, the permit holder has to be in the vehicle and ready to show the permit and ID on the way out.
Gertrude Bell's Middle East, on screen Friday
The Coral Gables Art Cinema screens Letters from Baghdad on Friday, July 31 at 6 p.m., a documentary chronicling Gertrude Bell's journey into the Middle East and her impact on the region's modern formation. Bell tends to appear as a footnote in other people's histories, which makes a film built around her own letters the version told from her side of the desk. It is also the kind of documentary that plays considerably better in a dark room with strangers than on a laptop with the lights on.

Parks Pollinator Palooza is set for Saturday, August 29, at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, listed on the city's events calendar as a family-friendly event built around giving back to nature. No start time has been posted yet. It is a month out, which is exactly why it tends to slide off the calendar — the back half of August fills up with school logistics and nobody remembers the garden until September.
